African Union | Multistakeholder Consultative Sessions on the Development of a Continental Strategy on Artificial Intelligence (AI) | Addressing and Mitigating AI Risks & Fostering the Ethical Governance of AI in Africa |

Thank you to all participants and presenters for a truly enlightening start to our multistakeholder consultations on the development of a Continental Strategy on Artificial Intelligence. Special thanks to Dr. Rachel Adams, our esteemed moderator from the African Observatory on Responsible AI, for her notions and proficient management of the discussions.

In accordance with the respective Concept Note, the insights shared by Prof. Jake Effoduh, Prof. Amal Fallah Seghrouchni, Ms. Gabriela Ramos, and Hon. Commissioner Solomon Ayele Dersso have provided invaluable perspectives on the ethical risks, governance needs, and the overarching impact of AI on societal norms within Africa. These discussions are fundamental in shaping a robust framework that addresses AI's role in democracy, security, and social cohesion across the continent.

I look forward to further engaging and deepening our understanding through the upcoming sessions, as we collaboratively craft an AI governance framework that is attuned to the unique needs and aspirations of African societies. Your contributions are crucial as we strive to ensure that AI development in Africa is conducted ethically, safely, and inclusively, in alignment with our shared values and community structures.
