In the realm of digital transformation and AI, the conversation on global inclusivity and equitable development is both crucial and ongoing.

On February 29, 2024, I had the privilege of engaging in a profoundly insightful discussion with the esteemed Poncelet Ileleji, a vanguard in the IT sector of the Global South for over a quarter-century. Currently leading Jokkolabs Banjul, serving as Chairperson of the UNECA Africa Task Force for the 17th Global Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Ethiopia, and directing the University Innovation POD (UNIPOD) at the University of Juba, South Sudan, Mr. Ileleji's contributions to digital advancement are unparalleled.

Our dialogue centered on three pivotal themes: enhancing AI literacy, bridging the digital divide in Global South and Europe in particular, and addressing the current pressing issues related to AI regulation. These discussions are timely, as they align with the broader objectives of the Global Digital Compact (GDC) and echo the principles I proposed in the AI Constitution Preamble submitted to the esteemed collegial body in January 2024.

Our conversation with Mr. Ileleji underscored the importance of these principles, particularly in fostering AI literacy and bridging the digital divide. Moreover, addressing acute issues connected with AI regulation is imperative to ensure that the development and deployment of AI technologies are governed by ethical considerations and human-centric values.

This conversation marks a step forward in our collective journey towards a more inclusive digital world. By integrating findings from our discussion's insights into the GDC framework, we can pave the way for a future where digital literacy and AI understanding empower every human being.

Mr. Poncelet Ileleji, your dedication and insights during our conversation were invaluable. Thank you for your commitment to shaping a more inclusive digital future. Your leadership and vision are pivotal as we navigate the challenges and opportunities of AI and digital transformation.
