Briefing with Civil Society on the UN80 Initiative

by Under-Secretary-General for Policy, Guy Ryder

15 December 2025,

the Global AI Center POLLYPRIANY actively participated in the Civil Society Town Hall Briefing on the UN80 Initiative, convened by the United Nations and led by Mr. Guy Ryder, Under-Secretary-General for Policy, within the Executive Office of the Secretary-General.

The UN80 Initiative is a system-wide effort to strengthen the UN’s agility and integration in responding to complex global challenges. The town hall format brought together over 630 participants from the UN system and civil society in a genuinely interactive exchange.

During the discussion, the Global AI Center contributed perspectives on:

human-centric and predictive AI governance;

— prognostication of professions in the context of rapid technological transformation;

disability inclusion, algorithmic dignity, and labour-rights-aware AI frameworks, drawing on doctrinal research conducted by VALENTYN PRIANYKOV, Head of the International Department for Algorithmic Dignity & Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Director of the AI Institute on Advanced IP Law and Ethical Governance at the Global AI Center;

— the importance of embedding foresight, prevention, and constitutional values into emerging UN technology architectures, including shared digital infrastructures and institutional reform processes.

We also drew attention to our work on a Supranational Protocol on Responsible AI Use and Labour Rights, elaborated in the spirit of the AI Constitution’s principles and provisions, as a practical contribution to ongoing discussions on the future of work and digital governance.

The Protocol in question is available on our official website and is subject to copyright protection:

On behalf of the Global AI Center POLLYPRIANY,

which in particular has contributed to UN Office on Drugs and Crime expert processes and Global Digital Compact–aligned consultations, I would like to commend the UN80 Initiative for its strategic clarity and institutional acumen in approaching system-wide reform under tightening resources.

We are particularly attentive to the technology cluster within UN80, including the consolidation of core digital infrastructures and the proposed Technology Accelerator Platform.

From our perspective, several interlinked dimensions of this transformation merit particular attention. One is the prognostication of professions in the context of rapid technological change. The current technological revolution is not only altering tools and systems; it is reconfiguring labor markets, public administration functions, and institutional skill profiles at speed. Reform that does not anticipate these shifts risks remaining reactive rather than preventive.

Mr. Ryder, given your distinguished experience in labour standards and employment policy, we would like to draw your attention to the Supranational Protocol on Responsible AI Use and Labour Rights, elaborated by the Global AI Center in the spirit of the AI Constitution’s principles and provisions, and would welcome its consideration in relevant discussions.

Another equally critical dimension is disability inclusion and accessibility.

Our work emphasizes that technological consolidation and acceleration must embed algorithmic dignity and disability-inclusive AI frameworks from the outset. Persons with disabilities must be recognized not as passive beneficiaries, but as rights-holders and co-designers of digital systems across the UN ecosystem.

We see strong alignment between the Global AI Center’s approach and the objectives of UN80.

We would therefore welcome our work being heard and taken into account, and we stand ready to engage constructively in support of the UN80 Initiative.

Thank you.

It was inspiring to engage with civil society voices from a wide range of backgrounds. The openness and depth of perspectives shared underscored the strength of inclusive dialogue.

Our sincere thanks to Mr. Guy Ryder, the organizers, moderators, and all participants for a thoughtful, dynamic, and forward-looking discussion.

The work continues — and the future must be built with foresight, dignity, and responsibility at its core.
