In the virtual corridors of global dialogue, the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference Intergenerational Briefing, convened on the 22nd of March, heralded a pivotal prelude to the forthcoming Summit of the Future. This briefing, a testament to the unwavering commitment to intergenerational solidarity and the fostering of a more inclusive and innovative discourse, was an illuminating beacon on the journey towards a sustainable and equitable future.

Organized under the auspices of the Intergenerational & Youth Subcommittee of the UNCSC 2024, in concert with the Major Group of Children and Youth and the DGC Civil Society Youth Representative Steering Committee, the event epitomized the ethos of collaborative engagement.

The briefing commenced with insightful presentations, expertly delivered by Terry Otieno and Mai Sami Ahmed, who offered a profound exploration of the intricacies of the UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi and the Summit of the Future. These presentations not only delineated the contours of the forthcoming discourse but also accentuated the indelible link between present actions and future legacies. Cairo Eubanks further expanded the discourse, elucidating the critical landscape of intergenerational participation. Their presentations underscored the imperative of harnessing the collective wisdom and energies of all generations to forge a path towards meaningful and transformative global action.

As an International Human Rights Defender on AI and the author of the world's first Constitution on Artificial Intelligence, I raised a pivotal question concerning the proposal for the introduction of a State Monopoly over AI. This inquiry, rooted in the safeguarding of human rights within the domain of AI, emphasizes the critical need for state oversight in the technology's development and application to ensure the protection of education and employment rights. It was announced by the speakers that all inquiries, including mine, were directed to a specialized ad-hoc committee for comprehensive review and consideration.

As we engaged in a brainstorm to distill our collective aspirations for the Summit of the Future, participants contributed a myriad of terms reflecting their vision. Notably, my proposals—"State Monopoly over AI," "AI Constitution," and "AI-Friendly Environment"—I prominently highlighted in red, signaling their equal significance amidst a tapestry of expectations for the summit.

As the briefing drew to a close, concluding remarks of the speakers resonated with a sense of purpose and anticipation.  In reflection, I extend my gratitude to all the distinguished presenters – for their invaluable contributions and insightful perspectives.
